Retailer Huffman Koos is temporarily closing all eight of its stores in New York and New Jersey to undergo what the company describes as “massive renovations … including a complete overhaul of its product offering.”
The retailer has retained Planned Furniture Promotions to handle liquidation sales at the stores, and Huffman Koos CEO Anthony Mehran said sales at five of the stores are already is underway.
“Huffman Koos is at an exciting point in time inspired by our rich history,” said Mehran, a furniture retailer and real estate developer who acquired the company during bankruptcy proceedings in 2005.
“Huffman Koos customers with open orders have no reason for concern, as our intention is to fulfill all orders,” he added. “We are financially strong and continue to enjoy great relationships with our many quality vendors.”
Liquidation sales are underway at stores in Freehold, Fairfield, Watchung, and Rockaway N.J., and Middletown, N.Y. He said similar events will begin soon at the remaining three stores in Paramus, N.J., and Farmingdale and Elmhurst, N.Y.
“We are pleased to be assisting Huffman Koos for this important event,” said Rob Rosenberg, president of Planned Furniture Promotions. “With the continuing evolution of the retail furniture business, helping our clients successfully reinvent their business model is becoming the fastest growing part of the services that we provide.”
