Fine Cotton Factory Completes GOTS Certification

Fine Cotton Factory’s mattress ticking and its washing and knitting processes are covered by the certification.

GOTS certification ensures organic, environmental, and socially responsible manufacturing of textiles, from growing through production, packaging, labeling, and distribution of all organic fibers to provide a credible assurance to the consumer.

“The textile industry is interested in suppliers that offer GOTS certified fabrics,” said Skip Kann, director of special projects for Fine Cotton Factory. “We have a nice organic cotton product line, and the GOTS certified accreditation takes our product line to the next level. There’s a growing lifestyle in all types of organic goods including consumables, and we are involving ourselves in the demand for certified organic textiles.”

GOTS is the global organic standard for fabrics for home textiles and apparel made with organic fiber and includes both environmental and social criteria. Key provisions include a ban on the use of genetically modified organisms, hazardous chemicals, and labor standards, while requiring strong social compliance management systems and strict waste water treatment practices.

Recognized worldwide as the leading processing standard for textiles made with organic fibers, GOTS certification enables consumers to purchase items that are certified organic from field to finished product.
