Boston Interiors Founder Ken Loring Dies

Ken Loring, founder of Massachusetts-based retailer Boston Interiors, died at his home this week after a long battle with cancer. He was 69.

Loring founded Boston Interiors in 1979 and built the family-owned company into a seven-store chain with annual sales of more than $50 million.

“He placed a strong emphasis on a culture of integrity and family values within the company, and was recognized as a major player in the northeast,” the company said in a statement announcing his death. “He will be missed by many in the industry.”

In April, Loring and his family sold the company to the investment firm Castle Island Partners and the retailer’s management team, which is headed by CEO Stefanie Lucas. Lucas has been CEO of the retailer since 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Mal; a daughter, Meghan and her husband Javen Pelton; a son, Michael and his wife Jody; and five grandchildren.
