From Home Furnishing Business

O’Mara To Head Steinreich Communications Office

Steinreich Communications Group, an international public relations firm that has numerous furniture and mattress industry clients, has named Sheila Long O’Mara as the new head of its High Point, N.C., office.

O’Mara, former editor-in-chief of Home Furnishings Business, joined Steinreich Communications earlier in the year. Since joining the firm, she has worked alongside Senior Vice President Ellyn Small, who leads the firm’s home furnishings practice, to grow and expand the agency’s footprint into the largest in the category.

In her new post, O’Mara is replacing Karen McNeill, who is leaving the firm at the end of the month. McNeill sold her firm, McNeill Communications, to Steinreich Communications earlier this year.

O’Mara will oversee the firm’s local employees and continue her work with the firm’s home furnishings clients, including the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame, Norwalk, Bunakara, Fine Furniture Design and Durham Furniture, among others.

“Since joining the firm, Sheila has made a tremendous impact in terms of counseling and servicing our clients and proven to be a great mentor to her colleagues. She has also become a strong contributor to the growth of our practice as many companies seek her guidance,” said Steinreich Communications President and CEO Stan Steinreich.

Prior to her 11-year stint as editor-in-chief of Home Furnishings Business, O’Mara spent eight years with Furniture Today working in a number of roles, including upholstery editor, fabric editor and editor in chief of its Kids Today publication.

Before becoming a trade journalist, she was a staff writer for the Greensboro News & Record in Greensboro, N.C. and the Elkin Tribune in Elkin, N.C.
