Sustainable Furnishings Council Co-Sponsors Legislative Webinar

The Sustainable Furnishings Council and the American Sustainable Business Council are sponsoring a webinar Nov. 17 that will feature a discussion of lobbying for pollution prevention, CO2 reduction and safer chemicals.

Featured speakers are Richard Eidlin, vice president for policy at the American Sustainable Business Council, and Bryan McGannon, the group’s policy director.

Eidlin will discuss the many ways in which climate change poses fundamental risks to a furniture business's success. More frequent extreme weather, higher electricity prices and supply chain disruptions will likely have an adverse impact.

The good news, however, is that policymakers at both the federal and state level are taking action, with efforts underway to put a price on carbon as well as other important policy initiatives to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.

McGannon will talk about the prospects for legislative action restricting harmful flame retardants and the impact on TSCA implementation by the new administration.

Following the election, a new Congress and a new administration will put their stamp on chemical reform policy, as well as many other forms of pollution prevention.

The webinar begins at noon EST. To register, click here.
