McDonald won the Design Excellence Award for designing a room that featured the use of sustainable products from SFC members and emphasized energy conservation and related sustainable practices.

Other award winners were Robin Wilson of Robin Wilson Home in New York, who won the award for the best Shared Spaces project with a budget of more than $30,000; and Sheree Vincent of Fusion Designed in Wyoming, Minn., who won the Shared Spaces award for projects under $30,000.

In addition, Dann Foley of Dann Inc. in Palm Springs, Calif., won the award for best outdoor space design.

The awards were announced during the High Point Market at the SFCs 10th anniversary celebration. The anniversary event included a video tribute from former Vice President Al Gore, and presentations from Amy Smith of the World Wildlife Fund and David Levine of the American Sustainable Business Council.
