Morris Links Furniture Promotion to Ohio Voter Turnout

All Morris Home Furnishings, Ashley HomeStore and Better Sleep Shops located in Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus, Ohio, and Florence, Ky., are participating in a first-time promotion where eligible shoppers will get their purchase free if 69% of Ohio’s eligible voters turn out and vote for president on Election Day.

The promotion, which is tied to the retailer’s 69th anniversary, is open to customers who make a minimum purchase of $1,499 on furniture, mattresses and accessories before 9 p.m. on Nov. 7, the day before the election.

They will get their purchase free if at least 6 million votes are cast for president in Ohio as reported by the Ohio Board of Elections.

“With the biggest election in years approaching, no matter which candidate you’re supporting, you can make your vote count with free furniture.” said Larry Klaben, President and CEO of Morris Furniture Company. “We are celebrating our 69th anniversary in a big way.”

“This is the first time our company has created a promotion like this. It’s exciting to encourage every eligible voter to get out and vote,” added Robert Klaben, vice president of advertising and marketing. “The State of Ohio is once again a key battleground state with all eyes focused on how our citizens decide the future direction of our country. With just a few weeks left before the election, Ohio will be the center of attention for all candidates and news organizations.”

Robert Klaben noted that, in 2012, during a presidential election that was less controversial than this year’s race, six states had voter turnouts of 69% or greater. According to The United States Elections Project, an information source for the United States electoral system, Minnesota had the highest turnout in 2012 with 76% of eligible voters casting a vote for president.

Two years ago, Morris Furniture awarded about $1.5 million worth of free furniture during a promotion tied to the college football national championship game. He said they’re hoping to give away as much as $5 million in furniture with the latest promotion.
