Choice Furniture Becomes Furniture First Member

The Furniture First Board of Directors has approved Choice Furniture in Plattsburgh, N.Y., as the newest member of the cooperative buying group.

Established in 2009, Choice Furniture is a family run business with over 25 years in business in the Plattsburgh area. Choice specializes in selling brands with products made in the USA.

Owned by the Pirofsky family, the store is operated by Jack Pirofsky and his son William “Willy” Pirofsky.

In addition to their admittance to Furniture First, the store recently received approval to add a Sears Hometown Store appliance display and order center to their showroom. The display will include a full line of appliances, including the exclusive Kenmore brand, and a kiosk that will allow customers to order Sears products and authorized replacement parts.

Sears representatives actively sought out Choice Furniture for distribution of the appliances to retain customers in the area as the department store alters its retail strategy for a changing market. Choice expects to add three to four individuals to their staff to assist with the sale of appliances and increased traffic the Sears name are expected to drive.

Renovations are underway at the store to make room for the appliances in the showroom, with the goal of being complete by Thanksgiving.

Furniture First is a cooperative national home furnishings and mattress buying group serving full line independent retailers with retail sales over $2 million. A recent analysis found that collectively, the group represents $2 billion in retail sales through 460 member store fronts.

Furniture First occupies a showroom at the High Point Market, IHFC G-770 where products from several of the group’s approved vendors is displayed. This includes the group’s high-margin private label mattress line, Mattress 1st.
