The Contemporary Design Group, a national association of independent home furnishings showrooms, specializing in modern and contemporary design, has announced the addition of three new retailer members; Scandinavia Furniture in Metairie, Louisiana, Bright Ideas in Royal Oak, Michigan and Design Quest in Grand Rapid, Michigan.
The new additions bring the group total to 27 retailer members with 40 showrooms nationwide.
CDG collectively represents the best independent stores for contemporary design across the United States. “With our three new members, we have expanded our geographic footprint nicely,” says Andy Thornton, CDG Board Member and Co-Owner of LaDiff in Richmond, Virginia.
“Each new independent member brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of their perspective markets and expands our overall skill set and depth. This is a win for the new members, current members, and our extensive group of industry partners.”
Rick Howard, CDG Board Member and President of Sklar Furnishings in Boca Raton, Florida agrees, “one of the most exciting things about CDG are the people who make up our group!”
Contemporary Design Group has plans to continue to recruit new independent retailers and expand into additional contemporary markets, according to Executive Director, Alicia Mendez.
“I’d love to see CDG add a Canadian member or two to become an international group in the near future! We have several opportunities here in the U.S. as well. Our board is always working hard to identify and recruit the next great member to enhance the group,” said Mendez.
