Glideaway Teams with USO to Enhance Sleeping Lounges for Troops

Specialty sleep manufacturer Glideaway Sleep Products is making a significant donation of its Iron Horse steel bed frames and Revolution Tech pillows to the USO of Missouri Airport Facility for use by soldiers who travel through the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.
Mattress protectors will also be part of the donation.
The USO lounges at the airport provide 14 twin beds, as well as a wake-up service, for weary traveling soldiers. All of the sleep systems are getting an upgrade.
“We believe the USO serves a critical need for our military personnel and their families,” said Ron Fredman, Executive Vice President of Glideaway. “Our Glideaway bed frames and pillows will make for a comfortable resting spot as our soldiers pass through the St. Louis airport. Supporting our military with a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of travel is an honor. Our entire Glideaway family couldn’t be prouder of our contribution to our military personnel.”
In addition to its strength and reliability, the Iron Horse frame is easily taken apart and stored making it an asset when the USO needs additional room during peak travel times. Holiday travel brings in thousands of military personnel through the airport, and the USO dismantles the beds to make room for people to sleep on the floors.
Glideaway’s Revolution Tech pillows provide antibacterial and allergen control and feature Feran Ice® and breathable Air+ mesh for cooling and breathability. In addition to their enhanced features, the pillows are built to last longer than typical fiber pillows.
The USO facilities at the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport serve as a quiet lounge as well as a meeting place for U.S. Army recruits headed to nearby Fort Leonard Wood for basic training. In addition to the sleeping spaces, the USO spaces provide a media room, complimentary snacks and beverages, Wi-Fi, phone lines and more.
Philanthropy is not new to Glideway. The company makes donations to a number of causes throughout the St. Louis, Mo., area, as well as to organizations with ties to the Fredman Family and causes close to the company’s customers. Glideway donates proceeds from each of its youth mattresses sold through Little Canada, Minn.-based Slumberland to the retailer’s 40 Winks Foundation, which provides mattress to children and families in need.
“Giving back is part of our who Glideway is,” Fredman said. “It’s part of our culture and an important aspect of who we are and how we choose to run our company.”
Glideaway is a division of Fredman Bros. Furniture Company, Inc., a full-service bedding supplier to full-line furniture retailers and specialty sleep shops.
