Spurred by the increased visibility of a new showroom location and a creative mix of fresh, on-trend products, Capel Rugs enjoyed increases in traffic and sales at the Summer Las Vegas Market.
The company also enjoyed a solid performance at the Atlanta International Area Rug market.
“We feel very encouraged by the activity we generated at this summer's markets," said Cameron Capel, Vice President of national accounts for Capel Rugs. "In both Las Vegas and Atlanta, we had a strong appointment list of retailers and designers, and everyone we were expecting to visit came through and spent quality time with us. At both markets, people loved what they saw and we placed a significant amount of new orders for all of our introductions.”
"We were especially excited by our results in Las Vegas, where both sales and attendance were up compared to the Summer 2015 Market."
Four new collections gained particularly strong placements at retail for the company at this round of markets.
"Customers were excited to see our new items," said National Sales Manager Jake Sweeters. "Our walk-ins were up in Las Vegas with our new, convenient location."
Customer highlights this summer included: Callista, Simply Gabbeh, Kodari and Barletta. Also doing well were several additions to Capel’s licensed collections, including Viking Strip, a new hand knotted addition, Genevieve Gorder line, Kevin O’Brien’s six new Caravan collection rugs, the first machine-made constructions in the designer’s line, and Ashland and Shalimar Resist, the first jacquard constructions Capel has produced for the Williamsburg line of licensed “trend meets tradition” rugs.
"Our introductions were well received across a wide range of styles, constructions and price points," said Capel. "Retailers and designers recognize that we're working hard to deliver both fashion and value, and that we're responding to actual needs that they see emerging among their customers. It's a highly collaborative approach that results in stylish rugs with enhanced features that are priced for stores to effectively promote and sell."
In Las Vegas, Capel Rugs showed in a new permanent showroom. The space features a creative design with faux-brick wall treatments, a roomy kitchen area and easy-to-shop layout.
"Retailers loved our new showroom," Capel said. "It's so accessible and open. And being on the first floor, we attracted a number of new customers we hadn't done business with before that saw our displays as they walked by and decided to stop in."
Next year, Capel's Atlanta and Las Vegas market showrooms will be decked out to celebrate the company's 100th anniversary in January.
