From Home Furnishing Business

HFA Adds IHFRA seat to Board of Directors

In its continuing pursuit of fostering strong industry partnerships, the Home Furnishings Association (HFA) has added a seat on its board of directors for a member of the International Home Furnishings Representatives Association (IHFRA).

The Associations share a common goal of helping home furnishings retailers survive and thrive in their businesses. In light of that, the HFA voted to create a board position to be held by an IHFRA member appointed by their board during its May meeting and conference in Long Beach, Calif. There, IHFRA and HFA executives met to discuss issues that continue to strengthen their support of each other. IHFRA’s board elected its second Vice President, Al David, to sit on HFA’s board.

“I’m very excited to be on the board of directors of the HFA and continue our positive relationship between IHFRA and HFA,” said Al David, IHFRA’s second Vice President. David is the Ashley marketing specialist in the case goods division and works out of Michigan.

HFA’s Partner Relations team, led by David Gunn, President of Knight Furniture, Sherman Texas spearheaded this initiative. The team’s purpose is to discover opportunities to strengthen the HFA and its members via partnerships with other groups and organizations, which in turn strengthens the industry as a whole.

“Al David joining the board is an exciting step in the relationship between HFA and the rep association, IHFRA,” Gunn said. “His experience, expertise and years of dedication to the furniture industry make him an outstanding addition to help the HFA continue to expand its support for all aspects of the furniture business.”

“We’re excited about growing our relationship with IHFRA by having Al on our board,” said HFA CEO Sharron Bradley. “IHFRA members and the work they do are vital to retailers; this was a natural fit for both of our groups.”

IHFRA’s executive director, Kathy Parks, agrees, “Our industry is built and thrives on strong relationships and this is just one example of how our Associations are continuing that idea.”
