Surya celebrated the official opening of its new corporate office space and distribution center with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house held onsite on Monday. More than 150 guests attended the event, which featured comments from Commissioner Chris Carr of the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Commissioner Steve Taylor of Bartow County, followed by a special address from guest of honor, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal.
The new facility, located north of Atlanta in Cartersville, Ga., includes 81,000 square feet of office space and 955,000 square feet of warehouse space, providing the home accessories company with more than double the warehouse capacity of its Calhoun, Ga. location.
The expansion and new state-of-the-art logistics center will enable the company to further increase operational efficiencies as it serves its growing base of more than 15,000 retailer and designer customers.
Satya Tiwari, president, Surya said, “When I reflect on how far we’ve come in the 40 years since my father, Surya Tiwari, founded Surya to create a better life for families in rural India, I am humbled and deeply grateful. This is just the beginning, and we’re excited to start the next phase of this amazing journey.”
Surya’s facility in Calhoun, Ga. will continue to be used for production of the company’s Made to Order rugs and for warehousing a portion of its more than 50,000 rugs and home accessories.
