Theodore Alexander Decries HB2

The company said it celebrates diversity and tolerance as two of our fundamental principles. We are opposed to discrimination in all its forms, including that based on gender, sexual orientation, race or religion. The company voiced its disappointment by the recent North Carolina HB2 legislation and strives to promote a welcoming environment for all.

Theodore Alexander has a long-standing partnership with designer Jamie Drake, who also voiced his displeasure of the bill’s passage.

“I am extremely dismayed by the passage of HB2,” Drake said. “I feel lucky to live in a modern world, and work in an industry that has been open to all for years. The design industry is one of inclusiveness and individuality. I implore the people of North Carolina to demand of their elected representatives that the law be repealed immediately, and reverse this step backward." 

At the upcoming High Point Market, Theodore Alexander will introduce a collection by Michael Berman.

“I have always believed in approaching life with kindness, love and respecting differences without discrimination,” Berman said. “HB2 discriminates against LGBTQ people and this is unacceptable. As a symbol of support and solidarity for our design community and for basic freedom from discrimination in North Carolina and throughout our country, I am pleased to partner with Theodore Alexander in donating funds to The Trevor Project.  The Trevor Project focuses on crisis and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ youth while helping many young and talented individuals who are desperate to be heard, understood, work and live within safe environments.”
