Danish RTA supplier Tvilum is setting up a production facility in Poland to meet increased global demand.
The company points to a successful 2015, which included an aggressive growth strategy into emerging markets globally, for the needed expansion.
“This establishment will bring us closer to our customers in Europe, where more than 60 percent of our products are sold,” said Andrew Long, CEO of Tvilum. “In addition to this, our largest supplier of raw material, Kronospan, is located close to our factory in Poland. These two factors will together reduce our logistics costs considerably and it is important for Tvilum.”
Long said by being closer to its particle board supplier will help the company maintain its competitive pricing while offering FSC-certified products out of Poland.
Currently, the company manufactures in three production sites in central Jutland, Denmark, in addition to its facility in Faarvang, Denmark. The new facility in Szczecinek in Western Poland will employ about 80 people initially.
“The establishment in Poland is an ambitious investment,” Long said. “But it is necessary for us to meet our goal of regaining our position as the world's leading manufacturer of ready-to-assemble furniture. Production facilities in Poland will make Tvilum a more sustainable, financially strong and profitable business. Therefore, both Tvilum, our customers and suppliers will benefit from our establishment in Poland.”
