Scott Lynn and Mitchell Lynn, the owners of Lynn’s Bedroom City in Portage, Ind., have signed an agreement to be a franchisee of Art Van.
Construction and renovation are currently underway at the 10,800-square-foot store, which will reopen in January as Art Van Furniture.
"Scott and Mitchell Lynn share our commitment to hands-on, superior customer service,” said Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of Art Van Furniture. "Their business values and philosophy operating Lynn’s Bedroom City align with ours. This partnership is a natural fit, and we are pleased to welcome Scott and Mitchell to the Art Van Furniture family.”
Lynn’s Bedroom City was founded in Merrillville, Ind., in 2001 by Jerry Lynn and his son, Scott. When Jerry Lynn passed away in 2010, Scott’s brother, Mitchell Lynn, became his partner in the business. By 2014, the company had grown to a total of six Indiana locations, including Valparaiso and two stores in Merrillville. The company’s store in DeMotte, Ind., operates as Lynn’s Carolina House Furniture. Scott and Mitchell’s mother, Lydia Lynn, is also active in the company.
“We have always admired Art Van Furniture as one of the premier family-owned furniture retailers in the United States, and joining forces will create an exciting new chapter for our company” said Scott Lynn. Added Mitchell Lynn, “This partnership will allow us to strategically expand our product line offerings and put us in a stronger position to achieve our growth potential.”
The new Art Van Furniture in Portage will feature such name brands as La-Z-Boy, Broyhill, Flexsteel, Southern Motion, Bernhardt as well as Natuzzi and Roma Leather lines. It will also house Art Van PureSleep and an Art Van clearance center.
The Portage location will be the second Art Van Furniture franchise in the Chicago area, and the 10th Art Van Furniture store in the region.
Art Van Furniture’s first franchise location opens this month in Rockford, Ill. An 11th store is slated to open in Algonquin, Ill., in May.
