Bedding supplier Englander Sleep Products anticipates adding more factories and additional licensees to its fold between within the next year.
The company, which now has four owners who produce and market Englander mattresses, is poised to increase its capacity, said Kevin Toman, CEO and president.
Recently, the company has formed licensing partnerships with Symbol Mattress Co. and Southerland Bedding. In conjunction with those agreements, Ron Clevenger, Symbol president and CEO, and Bryan Smith, Southerland’s president and CEO, became owners and board members of Englander. Smith and Clevenger joined John Hagglund, owner of Englander Northwest, and Ed Ciolkosz, owner of Englander Midwest, on the board and ownership roster.
“Our unique structure today ultimately serves everyone’s best interests,” Toman said. “It accommodates increased Englander-branded business, ensures quality and consistency in Englander products, facilitates expansion into new national and regional accounts, and positions us to become a meaningful factor in the digital retail marketplace. As we head into the future, we expect we’ll be more competitive and more successful than other licensing organizations at challenging the industry’s biggest consolidated brands for retail recognition and floor space.”
Englander products are currently manufactured at 11 licensed factories in Chicago, Pico Rivera, Calif. and Tualatin; at Symbol-owned facilities in Olive Branch, Miss., Orlando, Reading, Pa., Richmond, Va. and Watertown, Wisc., and at Southerland-owned plants in Nashville, Oklahoma City and Phoenix. In addition, the company has 19 international partners and plans to grow that presence, too.
