Williams-Sonoma Opens Franchise Stores in Mexico City

San Francisco-based specialty retailer Williams-Sonoma (NYSE: WSM) is opening 13 stores this quarter in Mexico City, Mexico through a franchise partnership.

The stores include kitchen and home furnishings brands Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, PBteen and West Elm. They are the first Williams-Sonoma retail locations in Mexico, and department store chain Distribuidora Liverpool is helping bring the brands to the country.

“Williams-Sonoma brands complement Liverpool’s vision and values as we both seek to surpass shopper expectations with quality, selection, distinctive experiences and unique environments,” said Graciano Guichard, general director of Liverpool.

Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, PBteen and West Elm have opened in Mexico City’s Galerias Polanco, and six future dates are set this quarter for more openings.

“This is an exciting milestone in our global expansion,” said Laura Alber, president and CEO of Williams-Sonoma. “The addition of stores in Mexico provides Williams-Sonoma with a full presence in North America.”
