Home furnishings retailer Rooms To Go has purchased a 13-acre site in Baton Rouge, La., for $3 million to build a new store.
The location is about a half-mile from its current store.
Crawfish BR Properties LLC, a company affiliated with Rooms To Go, bought the land from Bristol Holdings LLC in a deal that was filed Friday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s office. Rooms To Go has been leasing a 55,000-square-foot building at 6750 Siegen Lane since 2006, when it bought out the Kirschman’s furniture business. That lease expires in 2016, said Austin Earhart, an agent with Beau Box Commercial Real Estate, who has been marketing the Siegen Lane building.
“Rooms To Go prefers to own their own real estate,” Earhart said. “They’re not moving far away; they’re obviously happy with the location.”
