Art Van Furniture plans to roll out a sales institute next spring.
The Warren, Mich.-based retailer has named Edward Foxworth III director of Art Van Furniture's Art of Selling Institute.
The institute is a personal legacy project created by Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of Art Van Furniture.
Under Foxworth's leadership, the institute will create and distribute a sales course available to high schools, colleges and online via an interactive website to educate individuals on the importance of selling in all parts of their lives.
An entrepreneur, author, consultant, corporate diversity coach, and sought after national speaker, Foxworth possesses a passion for education. He served on the faculty of University of Phoenix from which he holds double masters degrees in business administration and adult education. He previously served as executive director of the Detroit Police Athletic League, and as a broadcast journalist as well as a freelance contributor to Radio One's Mildred Gaddis Show and WGPR's Mason Radio Morning Show.
"Edward has the passion, drive and experience to execute my vision of inspiring a new generation to proudly choose sales as a career," said Van Elslander. "Our shared goal is to ignite the pride, purpose and prestige of sales in students. This program can and will change the lives of its participants."
The Art of Selling Institute's courses are scheduled to be completed and available in March, with plans for an Art of Selling training center in Detroit next year.
"I have encouraged thousands of people across the country to work harder at self-sufficiency and to overcome challenges," Foxworth said. "I am honored to be working side by side with one of our nation's most successful sales experts as well as consummate professionals to introduce The Art of Selling program to schools and companies from coast to coast."
