HomTex continues expansion of its production capacity with the leasing of a 24,000-square-foot plant in Waynesboro, Tenn.
The sleep accessories company announced the acquisition of a 300,000-square-foot facility in Alabama in May.
Working in partnership with government officials, a jobs fair held in June yielded 50 workers for the company. Production in the new facility started last month.
“Waynesboro presents a strategic opportunity for HomTex due to its strong labor pool,” said Jeremy Wootten, president HomTex, who says the total number of jobs in the facility may double in a second wave of hiring. “The trained workforce allows us to scale quickly and respond to our growing production needs.”
The building was previously occupied by an apparel company that used the space as a cut-and-sew facility until late 2013. The building’s former use allowed HomTex to begin production with minimal retrofitting.
