Furniture of America Relocates

Furniture of America has relocated to an expanded office and warehouse in City of Industry, Calif.

The move has been in the works for more than a year to the 830,000-square-foot campus that includes three onsite warehouses and an additional site less than half a mile away.

According to Mike Genrich, senior vice president of sales and marketing, the move will make the company more efficient. The corporate office and the main warehouse are centrally located with support warehouses on either side.

"During the past four years, the response to the quality of our products, our pricing and service has been so strong that we simply outgrew our previous operation and had to secure more space in order to serve our customers at the levels they have come to expect," Genrich said.

The move allowed the company to double its loading doors from eight to 16, which will help move product to retailers quicker.

The warehouse is also equipped with a warehouse management radio frequency scan system that has accelerated pick time and provides more accurate and instant inventory data to the sales team. In addition to streamlining the company's supply chain and improving turnaround time for local customers, the  system will improve the interaction between Furniture of America's inside sales associates and retail customers.

"We expect at least a 50 percent increase in efficiencies when taking into consideration all of the components to the system, inventory control, speed of order processing and reduced wait time for local customers,” he said. “This will also benefit customers placing orders on our website because they can order online based on real-time inventory.”

The 22,000-square-foot office space houses 50 employees and allows for additional hiring with future growth.

Furniture of America ensured the office was inviting and comfortable. The space is filled with color and features an 80-inch television in the main office where home improvement and home makeover shows play.

"All of the walls in the office are a different bright color, video monitors located throughout the office are playing videos and slideshows of the company's products and customer testimonials,” Genrich said. “In addition, easy listening music plays in the background all day.”
