Leggett & Platt Opens Furniture Technology Center

Leggett & Platt’s  (NYSE: LEG) Home Furniture Components division has opened its Furniture Technology Center in High Point.

The renovated building is located adjacent to the company’s High Point offices, showroom and manufacturing facility.

Prior to the extensive renovation, the building had been used as a warehouse and general manufacturing space. Significant growth within the HFC division, paired with the desire for an upgraded development facility, naturally led the organization to expand their footprint and make use of the pre-existing resource.

The space houses offices, meeting spaces, a training and demonstration area and a research and development workshop.

The center offers resources for product development, as well as process improvement projects, testing services, quality assurance and customer seating evaluations.

“In order to better serve our customers, it was necessary to revitalize and update our product development efforts,” said Richard Weeks, vice president of seating and distribution. “With this upgraded facility, we have certainly accomplished that.”
