            Elran Founder Irving Lubin Dies

Irving Lubin, founder of upholstery producer Elran Furniture, died April 22. He was 91.
   Lubin founded Elran Furniture in 1967 with then-partner Harry Schaffer as the first Canadian company to build recliners. In 1980, the company expanded to include motion sofas and loveseats.
In 1994, Lubin’s son, Sheldon Lubin was named president and remains such today. Sheldon’s brother-in-law Eric Abecassis, is vice president. Their sons, Jesse Lubin and Michael Abecassis, the third generation, are now taking active roles at Elran.
Additional survivors include his wife, Charlotte, three children, eight more grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Donations in Lubin’s memory may be made to the Jewish General Hospital Foundation.
