Rug supplier Oriental Weavers increased its capacity at its Dalton, Ga., manufacturing facility by 12 percent.
The company invested in a new, high-speed loom to start the expansion. The loom, a five-meter loom, was the first to be installed in the U.S. and is the fastest and most technologically advanced loom of its kind. The machine is 35 percent faster than industry standard and gives Oriental Weavers the ability to produce more efficiently, with less waste and to eliminate excessive inventory.
Due to the company’s growth and the loom’s increased capacity, Oriental Weavers is expanding its distribution center, also in Dalton, Ga., by about 200,000 square feet. The additional space will allow the company to accommodate additional production and provide new employment opportunities in Northwest Georgia.
“U.S. manufacturing is extremely important to Oriental Weavers”, said Jonathan Witt, senior vice president of Oriental Weavers. “Thirty to 35 percent of our current total rug production is made right here in the United States, with aggressive plans to increase domestic production an additional 20 to 25 percent in 2015. Our overall commitment to US manufacturing and our recent capacity expansion provides jobs for Americans and helps the American economy. Additionally, the technological advances and efficiencies of the new loom speak for themselves. The economy will benefit, our customers will benefit – it’s a true win-win for everyone.”
