Mailing Rate Increase?

2014 by in Advertising, Industry
Furniture retailers incorporating catalogs and direct mail in their promotional efforts should be aware of potential rate increases for delivering those materials according to an alert from Sheridan Group.
"We are reading about a potential USPS rate increase for 2015--despite the October 2014 announcement that they would not increase rates," the alert read.
The Association for Postal Commerce, or PostCom, a multi-industry trade group for business mailers, reports that USPS is readying itself for the next postal price change to be effective April 26.
While not yet confirmed, the potential increase should be factored into 2015 budgets.
Sheridan said it already has received notifications from FedEx, UPS and IMS concerning verified rate increases for 2015. FedEx and UPS both are increasing their rates, 4.9 percent on average, but that will vary by service and zone. Check the Web sites of FedEx and UPS for more information.
Most large foreign post offices are increasing rates for 2015, and IMS will be increasing rates accordingly. Effective Jan. 5, foreign rates will increase 3 percent, and Canadian rate will increase 4 percent. These new rates will apply to any mailings processed on and after Jan. 5.
