Longtime North Carolina furniture representative Bob Gerber died last Friday at age 73 at Beacon Place Hospice Care in Greensboro.
Gerber was a furniture sales representative for more than 45 years and sold several lines across the state of North Carolina. He was a life-long blood donor, veteran of the U.S. Army, philanthropist to several causes and a proud member of the YMCA.

He is remembered as a loving and caring man who put his family first, and whose happy-go-lucky attitude made strangers quickly became friends. He would would always go out of his way to make everyone else feel comfortable, and frequently joked that he should have been a Wal-Mart greeter.
A memorial service for Gerber was held Sunday at Guilford College United Methodist Church. The family asks that a donation be made to the American Red Cross.
