Longtime NC Sales Rep Bob Gerber Dead at 73
Longtime North Carolina furniture representative Bob Gerber died last Friday at age 73 at Beacon Place Hospice Care in Greensboro.
Gerber was a furniture sales representative for more than 45 years and sold several lines across the state of North Carolina. He was a life-long blood donor, veteran of the U.S. Army, philanthropist to several causes and a proud member of the YMCA.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Chestnutt-Gerber. Other survivors include brother, Don Gerber; sons Scott, Justin and Joel Gerber; daughter Katie Glenn; son-in-law Freddie Glenn' daughters-in-law Jennifer Maguire Gerber, Jennifer Gerber, Amanda Gerber; and four grandchildren.
He is remembered as a loving and caring man who put his family first, and whose happy-go-lucky attitude made strangers quickly became friends. He would would always go out of his way to make everyone else feel comfortable, and frequently joked that he should have been a Wal-Mart greeter.
A memorial service for Gerber was held Sunday at Guilford College United Methodist Church. The family asks that a donation be made to the American Red Cross.
