            Stoney Creek Furniture to Shrink Showroom

        Canada's Stoney Creek Furniture plans to downsize its 125,000-square-foot showroom to about 85,000 square feet.
Stoney Creek Furniture has sold its building, but that doesn't mean the 45-year-old high-end furniture store is going anywhere anytime soon.
Instead, vice-president Jim Fee says Stoney Creek Furniture is staying exactly where it is, but downsizing to serve its customers better. Right now it's among the largest showrooms in the country at 125,000 square feet. After the acquisition it will be about 85,000.
"For many customers, the massive floor is overwhelming and confusing," says Fee. "We want to fix that."
According to Fee, founder and owner Dennis Novosel was approached by a potential buyer who was looking to capitalize on the store's prime retailer location — right along the QEW. Novosel saw an opportunity and took it.
