King Koil Shortens Warranties

Bedding supplier King Koil is following Tempur Sealy's lead in shortening its product warranty to a 10-year, non-prorated measure.
The new warranty, which goes into effect April 1, will apply to King Koil's complete range of products—iMattress, Laura Ashley and Natural Response, as well as World Luxury, Sleep Couture and Z Tech the three lines set for introduction at the Las Vegas Market.
The change is also applicable to beds in the company's Flare design.
“We applaud last week’s announcement that Tempur Sealy is taking the initiative to standardize its full replacement warranties to 10 years on premium-grade products,” said Dave Roberts, president and COO. “While past campaigns like “Replace in 8” obviously went even further toward reducing confusion and building trust with consumers, we welcome this development as a very important step in a far more realistic and sensible direction.”
Tempur Sealy announced last week that it would shorten its bed warranties to 10 years.
“We expect retailers also will view this news positively, since many dealers have looked on industry warranties as not only complicating, but also impeding, mattress sales,” Roberts said.
King Koil products not impacted by the change include premium-level beds sold prior to April 1, adjustable foundations and its Extended Life line, which the company promotes as the industry’s first no sag mattress. Extended Life beds will carry 20-year full warranties.
Non-premium King Koil products will move to five-year, non-prorated warranties.
