Ashley Stores Raise Money for Veterans

By Home Furnishings Business in Community/Charitable Support on November 30, 2010

Ashley Furniture Homestores in Louisville and Indianapolis recognized Veterans Day by raising money for veteran and military charities.

The stores, operated by KHF Holdings, offered free delivery and $50 to veteran and active military charities for each delivery purchased during the sale. The Louisville and Indianapolis Homestores got customers in on the giving by hanging mini-flags in store windows for $1 donations and asking all customers to sign a giant Thank You card that was delivered with Ashley Furniture Homestore's monetary contribution.

The effort raised $20,334 in donations to support the military communities of Louisville and Indianapolis.

"It was important to us to honor our local veterans in a substantial way for Veterans Day," said Chris Caprio, CEO and president of KHF Holdings. "Many people forget the real meaning of Veterans Day and we want the veterans in Kentucky and Indiana to know that their service is appreciated. We were honored to partner with two great local military organizations and are excited to see our donations make a positive impact in their communities."

The Louisville stores raised funds for the Ft. Knox Army Community Services. This organization equips people with the skills and support they need to face the challenges of military life. Services include: Employment Readiness Program, New Parent Support Program, Individual Financial Counseling and GED classes.

The Indianapolis stores raised funds for the USO of Indiana, which operates two service centers committed to providing a home-away-from-home environment to the present, past, and future service men and women within the state of Indiana.

KHF Holdings LLC, based in Louisville, Ky., is the licensee of five Ashley Furniture HomeStores in Louisville and Indianapolis and one Ashley Distribution Center.
