By Home Furnishings Business in Executive Changes on February 14, 2011

Richard Graves has rejoined case goods furniture manufacturer Leda Furniture as director of U.S. sales and marketing.

Graves formerly served in the same position for Toronto-based Leda from 2003 through 2006.

"Our family and company is very pleased to have Richard join us again as we work together to not only grow the U.S. market presence of our fine line of casegoods products, but also strengthen our importance and commitment to retailers and designers," said Maco Confalone, president.

Having Graves join the Leda team will allow Confalone to focus on the Canadian residential market as well as Leda's office contract and hospitality sectors.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my previous tenure with Leda Furniture and the Confalone family," Graves said. "I look forward to representing this wonderful domestically made product again."

Leda's current marketing plans focus on strengthening its Leda Advantage campaign, implementing phase II of a fabric expansion program, focusing on domestic product production and debuting its most ambitious new residential collection at the upcoming High Point Furniture Market(http://www.highpointmarket.com) in its showroom, IHFC-H1112.

"Having worked with Richard before we are very pleased to welcome him back to the Leda family and are confident in his abilities to strengthen our position in the American marketplace," Confalone said. Shower Me With Love Sets Young America Opening

By Home Furnishings Business in Furniture Retailing on February 14, 2011

Charlotte, N.C., infant and youth furnishings retailer Shower Me With Love will open its new Young America Signature Shop on Friday.

Store owner Andrew Shallal has dedicated the new retail location to feature expertly-designed vignettes exclusive to Young America, Stanley Furniture's infant and youth furniture brand. This gallery-like setting is designed to display Young America's best-selling styles in the most consumer-friendly conditions.

"My decision to open a Young America Signature Shop was based primarily on the brand's ability to produce infant and youth furniture in the U.S.," Shallal said. "The concept of 'Made in America' means the most stringent safety standards, quick shipping and a seemingly limitless selection of colors and finishes. I have also taken careful consideration to surround myself with other retailers that are like-minded when it comes to U.S.-produced goods. Stickley Furniture and EarthFare, for instance, are in our immediate vicinity."

To further deliver to consumers the Young America shopping experience, Shower Me With Love boasts two on-staff, experienced and ASID-accredited designers available for design consultation and recommendations.

"It€™s important to give our customers the entire branded experience, from the shopping to the designing to the purchasing process," Shallal said. "Our goal is to simplify a new or expecting parent's life--not complicate it."

Shower Me With Love will host its official grand opening at the retail location on Friday. The shop is located at 532 Governor Morrison Street in Charlotte, N.C., near SouthPark Mall.

Massoud Expands National Sales Force

By Home Furnishings Business in Upholstery on February 14, 2011

Dallas,Texas-based upholstered furniture manufacturer Massoud has significantly expanded its sales force in recent months to pursue its national growth strategy.

Massoud has added representatives covering Florida, the Carolinas, Minnesota, the Dakotas, New England and other key territories. The expanded reach is part of a long-term growth strategy designed to further strengthen Massoud's position as a leading national resource for high quality, domestically-made designs in an abundance of frame styles, fabrics, leathers and custom options.

The newest independent sales agents to join the Massoud sales force include: Clyde Barnard, New England; Bill Spece, Wisconsin, Minnesota and the Dakotas; Todd Collins, South Carolina; John Reid and Christi Whitt, North Carolina; and Alan Vance, Florida.

These representatives, and others now in place in areas across the country, report to Massoud President Tom Skipper, who joined the company in early 2010 to work alongside CEO Chuck Massoud in directing the company's next phase of growth.

"For the past decade, we've watched as price, rather than product innovation, emerged as the driving force in the upholstery industry," Massoud said. "But at Massoud, we've always been known for fabrics and through significant investments in technology and product innovation, we've continued to expand our style and customization options--without sacrificing competitive price points. So our sales representatives have become more important than ever to our continued growth. We're not just selling a commodity--but design, quality, value, choice and a whole list of business solutions for our retail and designer partners that only the sales representative can effectively communicate and deliver."

"We are well poised to serve the diverse needs and style preferences of a national audience as evidenced by the growing number of accounts we are opening around the country," Skipper said. "Every design is made here in our Texas plant; we stock at least 90 percent of our fabric offerings ensuring unrivaled special order delivery times; and we remain focused on our cost-controlling business model€”all features that translate to  immediate benefits for our customers."
