Costco says its third-quarter net income rose 6 percent with growing membership numbers pushing sales both at home and abroad.
The nations biggest wholesale club has been among the top performers during the down economy and now, with more discretionary income in the pockets of shoppers, Costco is capitalizing on additional free spending.

Electronics and home appliances retailer Conn's Inc posted a first-quarter profit that beat market estimates, as people bought more home products like furniture and mattresses.
Conn's said it expects second quarter same store sales to decline to mid- to high-single digits as rising gas and food prices may affect more customers. In the quarter ended April 30, net income for the company, which provides shoppers flexible credit options to buy its products, was $4 million.
