Knoxville Wholesale Furniture (KWF) plans to open a new store this fall at the intersection of Kingston Pike and Morrell Road. The 112,000 square foot space will operate as a clearance center for the company, which plans to hire at least 30 new employees to work there.
The store will offer bargain priced furniture from retailers like Lane, Simmons, Ashley and Sealy.

New High Point Market Authority President Tom Conley said hes looking forward to the challenge of heading up the organization that produces the worlds largest home furnishings trade show.The 62-year-old trade show professional said he will bring his years of experience to the job, building on the success and tradition of the High Point Market.And as a native and resident of the Chicago area, he quips that he wont mind winters in the Piedmont of North Carolina as opposed to the lakeshore of northern Illinois. Conley was named the new president of the Market Authority Thursday.

The now-vacant Thomasville Furniture plant in Appomattox is set to be auctioned next week. The 830,000-square-foot facility is listed on the Loeb Winternitz Industrial Auctioneers website, along with a large amount of manufacturing equipment. The online and in-person auction is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday. Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Melbourne, Fla., is going out of business, a victim of the poor economy and, according to a store representative, mismanagement by former owners.The store was owned by 4-S Corp., which was headed by Rich Stevens, a well-known Brevard County businessman who once oversaw a thriving network of furniture stores.Stevens blamed the supply problems at Ashley on a corporate approach that put franchise owners at a disadvantage.Liquidation notices went up earlier this week at Ashley, 4360 W. New Haven Ave., which since early July has been operated by an outside company.
