Lane Adopts QR Technology

By Home Furnishings Business in Home Theater on August 25, 2011

Lane Furniture has implemented QR (quick response) technology on all hang tags and support materials for new home entertainment product.

Quick response technology is a specific matrix barcode that is readable by dedicated QR readers and smartphones.

As part of its launch of nine new home entertainment groups at Las Vegas market earlier this month, Lane incorporated QR codes on the products' hang tags that, once snapped by a smartphone or tablet, send the user to complete details including product features, styling, fabric availability and sizes/dimensions.

"On the retail floor, it is vital to make the consumer shopping experience as easy as possible," said Greg Roy, president of Lane, Tupelo, Miss. "By incorporating QR codes on our products, consumers can quickly get all the information they need right on their smartphone to help them make their purchase decision. Our plans are to incorporate QR codes on all new product launches in the future."

Also at Las Vegas Market, Lane's entire national sales force received iPads to aid in their selling efforts and eliminate the need for the traditional three-ring binder. All Lane marketing and sales materials are available to the sales force and their retailers on a dedicated Web site.
