By Home Furnishings Business in Delivery on September 23, 2011

Logistics provider Globe Express Services has expanded its sales team for the U.S. Pacific Region.

Industry veterans Waleed Moujaes, John Ramos and Brenda Lynch have joined the company, respectively, as director of national sales, regional sales manager and region office manager. All are based in Globe's Los Angeles-area Torrance, Calif., corporate office. The additions support an integrated plan to expand the GES corporate office network to 50 locations worldwide by the end of 2011.

Moujaes joined GES in 1997 as a management trainee. Over the past 14 years, he has served the company in a variety of roles, including Hong Kong manager (1999-2001), district manager-Midwest (2001-2007), and regional sales manager-Southwest Region (2007-2011). In his new role as director of national sales, he manages and drives sales activity throughout the western United States, creating and cultivating opportunities with prospective and existing clients. He holds a BS from The American University of Beirut and an MBA from the Fisher School of Business at The Ohio State University.

Ramos is a sales professional with extensive experience in client relationship management in both the freight forwarding and commercial real estate industries. He is well-versed in the intricacies of the Asian market and is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish. He holds a Journalism degree from FACHA (Faculdades Integradas Helio Alonso) and a BA from Thornhill University in San Diego.

Brenda Lynch is a seasoned veteran of the logistics and transportation industry, with specific expertise in global imports and exports, budgeting and forecasting, contract negotiation, and market support and analysis. She studied Business and Marketing at Middlesex County College in Edison, N.J.

"Our West Coast team plays a key role in the success of our current Transpacific operations, while providing a platform for future growth," said Vice President of U.S. Sales & Marketing Bill Smith. "I'm very confident that our LA team, with the additions of Waleed, John and Brenda, will successfully expand our regional customer base and fulfill Globe's mission of delivering the ultimate customer service."

High Point Names "Six Causes That Matter"

By Home Furnishings Business in Community/Charitable Support on September 23, 2011

High Point Furniture Market will sponsor "Six Causes That Matter," a complement to the Market's tagline, "The Next Six Days That Matter."

Each day of the Oct. 22-27 home furnishings trade show will spotlight a particular charity, offering an opportunity for exhibitors and attendees to make a donation to that day's charity. Promotion of the charities will include signage, lapel pins, social media (#hpmkt6causes), press alerts and more. Exhibitors who participate will receive showroom signs to highlight their participation in that day's cause during Market.

The Six Causes That Matter this October include: Oct. 22, City of Hope (in memory of Center Point's Lynn Davis; Oct. 23, Susan G. Komen; Oct. 24, Habitat for Humanity; Oct. 25, American Red Cross; Oct. 26, National Furniture Bank; and Oct. 27, Open Door Ministries.

"Last year, we saw so many companies who were involved in charitable giving on their own at Market," said High Point Market Vice President of Marketing Cheminne Taylor-Smith. "We wanted to organize a larger project that would coordinate and highlight the incredible work done not only by the charities themselves, but also by the companies in the home furnishings industry."

Companies interested in participating can go to here to register, where they can find more information about each of the charities.

These Six Causes were chosen because of their strong ties to the home furnishings industry, but the High Point Market Authority plans to continue the Six Causes campaign throughout the year and will offer other charities the opportunity to be involved.

"Of course there are many more causes that matter," Taylor-Smith said. "Moving forward, we will continue to highlight and celebrate the contributions by so many in this industry, while also showcasing the good works of as many worthy charities as we can."
