Bombay Has 4 New Licensing Partners

Furniture and home decor retailer The Bombay Company has four new licensing partnerships in multiple product categories.

Those include licenses with JLA Home, The Zrike Company, StyleCraft Home Collection and MVP Group International.
 
JLA Home will provide a line of fashion home textiles that will include bed linens, bath accessories, window treatment, decorative pillows, throws and rugs. The collection will showcase luxuriously-designed, high-quality goods in the classic Bombay style.
 
The Zrike Company, known for its branded and private label tabletop items with boutique styling, will expand its repertoire of quality dinnerware, serveware, stemware and barware labels with the addition of the Bombay-branded collection.
 
StyleCraft Home Collection will bring the Bombay Home Furnishings Collection of portable lighting, a new line of Bombay table and floor lamps, chandeliers, pendants and electric wall sconces.
 
MVP Group International will create the Bombay Home Fragrance collection, a new line of luxury candles and scented products in a variety of sizes and shapes, diffusers, potpourri, room sprays, boxed candlescapes and candle accessories.

"Establishing strong licensing partnerships is an integral part of our overall strategy for growth, and help catapult the evolution of our brand," said Wil Hollands, president of Hermes-Otto International USA and owner of the New York-based Bombay Company brand. "We sought out industry leaders in key product categories to strengthen and complement our unique designs and sourcing efforts."

Hermes-Otto International will continue to directly design, source and import furniture, decor, wall decor, seasonal, and lawn and garden product.

Bob's Opening Nov. 10 in Md.

Bob's Discount Furniture will open a new furniture store in Rockville, Md., with a grand opening on Nov. 10.

The Rockville location is Bob's third opening in the D.C. metro area in the last six months. The new Bob's Discount Furniture is a 62,000-square-foot store located at the Montrose Crossing Shopping Center, 12011 Rockville Pike. The Rockville location will be a flagship store and the company's largest to date, with retail and clearance centers, and an area where customers can conveniently pick up their purchases.

Bob's Discount Furniture, Manchester, Conn., now has 43 stores in nine states, and the company continues to add new locations along the East Coast. In 2011, Bob's also opened stores in Hyattsville, Md., and Falls Church, Va. Including the new Rockville location, the company is responsible for adding about 250 jobs to the D.C. metro area.

To show its commitment to the Rockville community, Bob's will use the grand opening event to present checks totaling $20,000 for 12 local schools as part of the company's Outreach program. Co-Founder Bob Kaufman will be on hand for a ribbon cutting with local dignitaries and to meet attendees. Bob's will also offer complimentary refreshments from the new store's cafe. Nickelodeon cartoon characters SpongeBob SquarePants and Chuckie from Rugrats will be on site throughout the weekend, and other children's entertainment will include clowns, balloons and face painting.

NHFA, SHFA Name New Slate of Officers, Directors

The National Home Furnishings Association named 2012 officers and directors at its annual membership meeting in High Point on Sunday.

2012 NHFA Officers are:    president, Marc Schewel, Schewel Furniture, Lynchburg, Va.; chairman, Dianne Ray, Garden City Furniture, Garden City Beach, S.C.; president elect, Cherie Rose, The Rose Collection, Los Gatos, Calif.; senior vice president and treasurer, Rick Howard, Sklar Furnishings, Boca Raton, Fla.; and senior vice president, John Wells III, Wells Home Furnishings, Charleston, W.Va.

New directors beginning a 3-year term on Jan. 1 are:  Peggy Burns, Circle Furniture, Acton, Mass.; Jesus Capo, El Dorado Furniture, Miami Gardens, Fla.; Joe Cory Sr., Cory 1st Choice Home Delivery, Secaucus, N.J.; Mike Huber, Belfort Furniture, Dulles, Va.; Mike Root, Furniture Sales of Mid-America, Omaha, Neb.; Andy Thornton, La Difference, Richmond, Va.; Beckey Waldrop, Miller Waldrop Furniture, Hobbs, N.M.; and Ron Werner, HW Home, Denver, Colo. 

Directors elected to the NHFA executive committee for a two-year term beginning Jan. 1st are:  Jim Fee, Stoney Creek Furniture, Stoney Creek, Ontario; Donny Hinton, Colortyme, Gaffney, S.C.; Claudia LeClair, Fiesta Furnishings, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Bill Pou Jr., W.S. Badcock, Mulberry, Fla.

At its meeting Monday in High Point, the Board of Directors of NHFA affiliate Southern Home Furnishings Association  also named its 2012 officers. They include Robert Dossenbach, president; Britt Sams, vice president; Brian Shealy, secretary; Robert "Tripp" Jones, treasurer; and Gary Woodham, executive committee chairman.

New directors beginning a three-year term on Jan. are 1 Scott Allen, Schewel Furniture, Lynchburg, Va.; Mandy Jeffries, Colfax Furniture, Greensboro, N.C.; and Haywood "Woody" Whichard, Midtown Furniture Superstores, Madison, N.C.

SHFA serves furniture retailers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

National Home Furnishings Association is the nation's largest organization devoted specifically to the needs and interests of home furnishings retailers.
