Cardi's Looks to Local Goods

By Home Furnishings Business in on October 25, 2011 Swansea, Mass.-based Cardi's Furniture is shifting its merchandising focus to fill its more than 21 stores with furniture made in New England.

The retailer believes buying local means buying better because it supports local business and the local economy. Nick Cardi, co-owner of Cardi's Furniture, said made in America and made in Rhode Island are making a comeback.

"As natives of Rhode Island, we remember when 'Made in America' and more importantly 'Made in Rhode Island' meant something," he said. "These days, 'Made in Rhode Island' is more meaningful than ever. So all of us here at Cardi's are proud to offer furniture manufactured at Modulus Furniture located right here in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. That's right--hand-built upholstery manufactured in Rhode Island for Rhode Islanders, as well as our neighbors throughout New England."
