The National Home Furnishings Association and the
Western Home Furnishings Association are introducing a publication for home furnishings retailers.
The magazine, RetailerNOW, will be introduced at the upcoming Home Furnishings Industry Conference in Palm Springs, Calif., May 6-8.
"For decades our organizations have focused on the needs of the members by providing relevant, targeted programs and services," said Sharron Bradley, WHFA executive director. "The obvious next step was to deliver a more powerful educational and inspirational publication that links our community across regions, categories and the nation. This is who we need to be now.
The magazine will focus on issues of concern for furniture retailers.
By merging our efforts, NHFA and WHFA will be able to craft a better magazine to help our members while helping the industry move into the future, said Marc Schewel, Schewel Furniture and NHFA president. We are ready to change the landscape of our industry, and this is the perfect vehicle to do it.
The magazine will be published 10 times a year.

Specialty bedding retailer Select Comfort Corp. has announced that Bill McLaughlin, president and CEO, will retire June 1. He is 55.
Shelly Ibach, current COO, will succeed McLaughlin in the position. In anticipation of her new post, Ibach has been appointed to the board of directors, effective immediately.
McLaughlin will also retire as a director of the companys board, effective June 1.
Select Comfort is committed to setting a new standard in sleep for the consumer, said Jean-Michel Valette, chairman of the board of directors. This transition in leadership underscores the boards confidence in both the magnitude of the opportunity and the strength of the operating team. Shellys deep experience in retail, brand and product combined with her talent for developing high-performing, customer-centric teams make her the right leader to build on the strong foundation established by Bill.
Ibach was named COO June 2011. She oversees operations, marketing and sales and product management. Prior to her appointment as COO, she was executive vice president of sales and merchandising. Before joining Select Comfort in 2007, Ibach held senior position in Target Corp.s Target.com department store division.

Warren Buffett resisted pressure on Monday to identify his successor as
