The High Point Market Authority has revived the tradition of a commemorative poster, available in limited quantities at the upcoming High Point Furniture Market.
The Discovery poster's design showcases hundreds of photos that depict the High Point Market's breadth of product, the tens of thousands of buyers who attend Market, and the social media and press coverage about the show itself.
"For many years in the past, the Market produced commemorative posters," said Tom Conley, president and CEO of the Market Authority. "We're reviving the idea, but with a more updated look--more like the artwork you would see on a concert poster. It's a fun way to highlight everything that can be discovered at the High Point Market, namely an amazing array of product, exhibitors, education, events, and excitement.""
The limited-edition Discovery poster will be presented first-come-first-served at the Info Booths in High Point, and in the Media Center, which is located in the High Point Theatre.
"We've already had a lot of interest in the poster," Conley said. "The High Point Market is a unique event, unlike any other. People recognize that and love the idea of having a keepsake that captures their experience here."
The Market Authority will produce a new commemorative poster each April and October.

Fowler's Furniture - a fixture in Knoxville since 1932 - will close its West Knoxville retail store in the coming months, but that won't be the end of the company's local presence.
"We're not leaving Knoxville. We're committed to serving this community," said owner Don Fowler.
The closure of the large showroom on North Peters Road is part of plan to increase customer service through a network of smaller stores that will open before the year's end Fowler said.

A furniture store has made a major donation to Habitat for Humanity. Scan Design donated a $10,000 bedroom set to the Habitat ReStore in Fort Lauderdale. The contemporary furniture store is also donating 100 percent of the proceeds from its annual charity art event to support Habitat-built homes in South Florida
"Scan Design selected Habitat for Humanity to be the recipient of a charitable evening, and this is one of the donations, one of the many that Scan Design has given to Habitat," said Nancy Daly of the Habitat ReStore.

The fire that destroyed an old Bassett Furniture complex building in Bassett late last month, has been ruled an accident. According to Henry County Fire Marshal Rodney Howell, investigators determined a cutting operation using a cutting torch was going on about 1 & 1/2 to two hours prior to the fire on March 29th. Howell believes that a spark from the cutting operation likely landed in the dust of the building, and smoldered until the work crews left.
