A recent directive from President Obama will increase the federal governments purchase of products made with bio-based content over the next two years.
Signature Crypton Carpet, Dalton, Ga., its workers and the environment stand to benefit, said Signature Crypton Vice President of Sales John McIntosh.
The presidential directive requires U.S. federal government procurement offices to purchase more of the government's products and supplies--things such as paints, soaps, detergents, synthetic carpeting and turf--that are made with bio-based ingredients.
Signature Crypton Carpet qualifies because its high performance carpets include Universal Textile Technologies' BioCel, a natural oil-based polyol derived from American-grown crops. Using BioCel allows Signature Crypton Carpet to displace some of the petroleum previously used in its manufacturing process.
"Environmental responsibility is our business standard," McIntosh said. "As the leading producer of carpets produced from natural oil-based polyols, we feel that doing the right thing isn't optional, it's our duty. The government, American workers and the environment will all benefit from this directive."
President Obama's new directive augments the foundation of existing Farm Bills passed by Congress in 2002 and 2008. The aim is to foster new and innovative businesses and create good job opportunities throughout the country, including the rural areas where farmers raise crops used for manufacturing of bio-based products.
Signature Crypton Carpet is a vertically integrated carpet mill, providing its customers with design services, yarn extrusion, state-of-the-art tufting and coating. For more than a decade, Signature has been a leader in producing carpet for the hospitality industry.

RepZio, a provider of mobile applications for product presentations and sales, has a new Web site that better presents its mobile app's features and benefits.
"We also wanted the site to better educate our current customers on making the most of their investment in Repzio," said Alex Fraser, CEO of RepZio, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. "So much of our app development is based on the feedback from sales reps, we wanted them to have central access to helpful information, such as our YouTube Channel and simple tips and tricks."
The Web site also links to RepZio's support site, where customer management and sales representatives are encouraged to suggest features for consideration in future app development.
"The Admin and Rep users are our lifeblood, our reason to be," Fraser said. "We are proud of our ability to respond to their needs quickly and improve their lives through a more efficient sales process with the Repzio app."
The new Web site also displays testimonials from many current RepZio customers. This from Guildmaster President and CEO Steve Crowder: "We were so excited today when we saw the new release of Repzio 3.0 for the iPhone that we actually had people running around the office like kids on Christmas morning showing everyone the App. One of our Customer Service representatives was printing out price tags for the upcoming market and she had everyone crowded around her desk with iPhones extended trying out the new scan feature available through their iPhone cameras. The crowd parted as someone ran up to try it out with a iPad camera. Thanks for the new app and the excitement it created in GuildMaster. We all agreed on two words to sum up what we now have available on our iPad, iPod touch, and iPhones ¦ Game Changer!"
RepZio is a native iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch application that allows creative presentation of products and related information and provides an integrated ordering process. The application is used by reps in the field and by manufacturers during trade shows. The company also provides online catalog and e-commerce solutions in conjunction with custom website development. Branded custom apps are also offered to manufacturers, distributors and licensors. The Repzio application is used in many industries; apparel, food, beverage, gift, home furnishings, floor coverings, kitchen ware, medical devices, sporting goods, toys, packaging and hardware, among others.
