Stickley Furniture to Open N.J. Store

Stickley Furniture has bought a former Levitz building in Paramus, N.J., for its first New Jersey showroom.

The Paramus store will be the 15th Stickley retail store in the country and gives the 112-year-old company a continued presence in northern New Jersey as its primary distributor in the area, Bograd's Furniture, prepares to go out of business.

Rooms To Go Opens Miami International Showroom

Rooms To Go opened its remodeled showroom at the Miami International Mall this weekend.

The showroom features the best of Rooms To Go's store design as well as a brand new Rooms To Go Kids showroom. With more than 30,000 square feet of display for living room, dining room and bedroom furniture, the store is designed in signature style with coordinated room settings.

"We're very excited to be re-opening our Miami International showroom," said Jeffrey Seaman, CEO. "We've been in the neighborhood for many years and have always hoped to be able to build a bigger, brighter, state-of-the-art store for our customers. We have a strong presence in South Florida, and we're very thankful to all of our wonderful customers here. This is one of the company's best facilities. It boasts our newest showroom innovations which make it even easier for guests to shop for our affordable furniture either by the room or by the piece. As always, we're committed to providing unparalleled service, selection and an amazing shopping experience."

The retailer donated a percentage of sales from Saturday to Amigos for Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect.

"We value long term collaborations, and are delighted that Rooms To Go has once again selected Amigos For Kids as their partner nonprofit organization," said Rosa Maria Plasencia, president and CEO of the organization. "This donation allows us to continue providing much needed services for the children and families we work with in our efforts to prevent child abuse."

Masters Joins Furniture Brands

Dan Masters has been named to the newly created position of vice president of business development for Furniture Brands International (NYSE: FBN).

In his new position, Masters reports to Ralph Scozzafava, Furniture Brands' chairman and CEO.

"Adding Dan Masters to our executive team will provide the focus and sales strategy essential for success with key accounts, across our brand portfolio," Scozzafava said. "He is a proven industry leader in driving high performance and results. Dan's appointment augments our enterprisewide focus on driving topline sales. He has excellent relationships with retailers. In his role at Furniture Brands, we will benefit from his network, his vast furniture expertise and experience. He will be a key contributor to us meeting our sales goals."

Most recently, Masters was president of Hekman Furniture Co. Prior to that, he held various positions with increasing responsibility in general management and sales at Riverside Furniture, Flexsteel Inds. and Richardson Brothers. 

"This company is truly transitioned for success," Masters said. "I'm excited to join at a time where I can work with all of the brands to better serve our retail partners.
