Wright Enhances Hi-Tech Promotional Headboards

Marketing services vendor Wright Global Graphics will enhance its line of point-of-purchase headboards that bring light and sound elements to the retail floor.

The line now will include an adjustable headboard display system that gives companies the flexibility to alter the height and width of the display to fit a full, queen or king size bed. These high quality, adjustable headboards can be updated with new imagery, providing companies the option to repurpose the pieces for different models and collections.

Wright will debut the expanded line of headboard displays and new versions of iPad kiosks at the upcoming Las Vegas Furniture Market, July 30-August 3.

€œIt has always amused me that displays are treated as a throw away item,€ said Chairman of the Board Don Wright. €œWith a little creativity, and some up-front engineering, POP displays can be renewed with simple graphic revisions. Changing this mindset can save both the manufacturers and retailers a lot of money.€

With more options, the enhanced line of POP solutions will provide manufacturers and retailers the opportunity to develop custom-designed displays that incorporate brand messaging, strong graphics and electronics to increase visibility and improve the customer experience on the retail floor. Headboard designs can integrate lighting and sound elements, interactive displays, as well as space for brochures and other promotional materials. To save time spent on the customization process, for the first time, Wright will also offer standard versions of its popular iPad kiosk displays.

€œResearch shows that adding light and motion to marketing displays increases consumer retention by over 65 percent. Serta proved its effectiveness with the iComfort line and the use of interactive displays has been gaining traction ever since. Manufacturers rush to throw expensive new colors and fabrics on the bed every six months and close out old models in an attempt to make the mattress pop on the retail floor. By developing displays with replaceable high impact graphics, we can provide our customers a more cost-effective solution that reduces the need to invest money updating their collections as often. It can be a better investment in the long haul.€

SLF Expands Bed Recall

Samuel Lawrence Furniture has expanded a recall of its Bordeaux Collection beds to include full and twin sizes.

Last month, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, SLF voluntarily recalled about 18,400 king- and queen-size beds from the Bordeaux Collection in the United States and 1,250 in Canada, which are manufactured in Malaysia by Poh Huat Furniture Ltd.

The expanded recall involves around another 2,400 beds in the United States and 100 in Canada. The beds pose a hazard in that the hardware holding the headboard and footboard can loosen or detach. Samuel Lawrence Furniture has received more than 100 reports of headboards or footboards detaching, including one report of a Florida man who injured his foot when a footboard detached.

This recall includes Bordeaux Collection full- and twin-size sleigh beds with wooden headboards and footboards in a cherry finish. Each bed also has two matching wooden side rails. "Bordeaux" and a model number are printed on a white label on the back of the headboard and footboard. Model numbers for the recalled beds are 8070-242 and 8070-243 for the full-size and 8070-232 and 8070-233 for the twin-size.

Long's Supports NYC Shelter

Long€™s Bedding & Interiors has donated new mattresses and box frames worth $25,000-plus to Nazareth Housing's efforts to prevent and end homelessness.

The New York City retailer's donation will replace Nazareth Housing€™s current shelter beds, and some will be distributed to qualifying, low-income families and seniors free of charge through the Nazareth Housing Furniture Donation Service. Nazareth Housing provides emergency family shelter, supportive permanent housing and homelessness prevention services for low-income or homeless families and seniors.

€œSleep is an essential part of the happiness and well being of a family,€ said Long's President and Owner Bob Long.  €œWe are excited to be able to partner with Nazareth Housing to help these homeless mothers and children and upgrade their current sleep conditions with top-of-the-line mattresses.€

€œSingle moms have an incredibly hard job, and they do this job--each day--alone,€ added Co-Owner Terri Long. €œWe hope these mattresses will provide them and their children with a comfortable night€™s rest at the end of the day.€

 €œFor nearly 30 years Nazareth Housing has assisted thousands of poor and struggling households across New York City,€ said Nazareth Housing Executive Director Michael Callaghan. €œLong's Bedding€™s generous donation of high quality mattresses will meet the immediate pressing needs of the neediest in our community. We are grateful for their partnership with our Furniture Donation Service.€

In addition to the mattress donation, Caber Sure Fit has donated 15 mattress protectors from their DreamSerene collection. The protection supplier€™s mattress and pillow encasements guard against wear and tear, allergens and bedbugs.

Leon & Lulu to Benefit Shelter Dogs

Ten percent of sales on Sunday, July 29, 1-4 p.m., at home furnishings retailer Leon & Lulu will go to Paws for Life, SAFARI and GRACE Greyhound Adoption.

Leon & Lulu, Clawson, Mich., also will have adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens on hand. A tent will be set up in the grassy area behind the store where the adoptable animals will be inside. Other fun activities include face painting, a 50/50 raffle and Leon & Lulu's traditional roller rink fare.

In addition, the event includes a supply drive to support animal shelters. Leon & Lulu will accept cat litter, adult and kitten dry cat food; adult and puppy dry food; dog cages, crates carriers; canned cat and kitten food; cat scratching posts, cat towers and  kitty condos; dog and cat collars and leashes; dog and cat beds; litter boxes; heartworm medication; flea prevention drops and gas cards.
