Star Furniture Gives Furniture Gift for Mom, Daughters in Shelter

Analicia Rodriguez and her two daughters have tried their best to make a home out of their space in the Teen Parent Cottage at the Austin Children's Shelter, where they've lived since April. Rodriguez, 20, wants to give Anastashia, 3, and Aleina, 2, a stable life unlike her own childhood. From the time she was 1, she was in and out of foster care when she wasn't watching her mother cooking up heroin.

Star Furniture is helping Rodriguez get one step closer to a permanent home for her children.

Virginia's Carroll Furniture Closing after 70 Years

Carroll Furniture, which has been doing business in Alexandria for more than 70 years, is closing.

"I would say it's a combination of business not being great and just timing," said Frank T. Brame, one of the owners of the store. "We've been doing this a long time. It feels like the right time to call it a day."

Carroll Furniture has been in business since 1940.
