Feizy Rugs Marks 40th Anniversary

By Home Furnishings Business in on January 9, 2013

Feizy Rugs will celebrate its year-long ruby anniversary during the Total Home & Gift Market, Jan. 16-22 in Dallas.

John Feizy founded Feizy Rugs as a small retail rug store in Dallas carrying only fine, hand-knotted rugs. Following a family tradition of buying, selling and collecting Oriental rugs that spanned four generations, his goal was to expose the public to the beauty of a vanished world while enabling them to incorporate these incredible pieces of art into everyday living spaces.

Feizy soon leased a space at Dallas Market Center and began to work exclusively with the trade. Recognizing the demand for a variety of unique programmed rugs, he expanded his operation to include rug designers both in Dallas and overseas, and the company's collections grew to encompass the Feizy Fine® Rug Collection as well as the Feizy Home® Collection.

The company will mark its 40th anniversary with new introductions, incentives and festive happy hours each night in its showroom during Market to toast its customers and look ahead to the next 40 years of the company.

Furniture Buying Index Up a Point

By Home Furnishings Business in economic news on January 8, 2013

America€™s Research Group's Furniture Buying Index rose one point this month to a reading of 72.

€œConsumers feel slightly better about the coming year, but they are worried about health care costs increasing as well as lower take home pay,€ said Britt Beemer, chairman of Charleston, S.C.-based ARG. €œAmericans are hesitant to make big ticket purchases since they are not sure how increased health care costs and social security deduction increases will affect their disposable income in 2013. Consumers are cautious about making major purchases like furniture while they determine their financial situation for the coming year.€

The Furniture Buying Index is compiled each month by America's Research Group from interviews with 5,000 to 8,000 consumers across the country. In a typical month, 80 percent of the consumers interviewed can name a specific furniture item they intend to buy.The Index's mark signifies what percent of the benchmark 80 percent actually have a particular item in mind.
