Bedding Company Gets German Design Award

By Home Furnishings Business in on January 9, 2013

The German Design Council has awarded bedding supplier Dormeo Octaspring an Interior Innovation Award Selection for its patented technology.

The company will be featured in the upcoming IMM Cologne Design Yearbook.

The honor for special product innovation and design quality is given by a jury representing IMM Cologne and the German Design Council.

Octaspring features a high-tech memory foam spring; a breathable honeycomb structure with eight sides that allows movement in all directions while providing the support, comfort and ventilation needed for sleep. The mattresses offer a choice of firmness by using one to three layers of Octasprings zoned to provide the optimum levels of support where the body needs it most.

"We are so grateful for this prestigious international design award," said Chris Henning, Octapring's president of North American Retail. "The recognition highlights and justifies the many years of research and development, marketing and dedication that has gone into perfecting our new mattress technology. Sales in 2012 represented an incredible year of growth for the company as Dormeo Ocataspring made its U.S. debut in the middle of 2012 after launching in the U.K. and Canada. We are expecting even more recognition and success in 2013."

Dormeo has been a bedding player in Europe and Asia for 10 years. The company's North American presence includes a showroom and distribution center in Plano, Texas.
