The company saw $25 million in sales over the long holiday weekend from Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday, a 56 percent increase over last year. Wayfair, Boston, Mass., sold one item every 1.3 seconds on Cyber Monday.
Sales from smart phones and tablets played a key role in Wayfair.com's success throughout the weekend with mobile sales on Black Friday up three-fold over last year. In total, mobile sales made up 30 percent of orders throughout the Thanksgiving weekend for the home furnishings retailer. Wayfair's flash-sales business Joss & Main contributed to that growth with a 137 percent increase in mobile sales year over year for the long holiday weekend.
"We have worked hard to build an amazing shopping experience that offers not just top value and selection but also inspiration and ideas," said Niraj Shah, CEO and co-founder of Wayfair.com. "It's great to see the experience resonating with shoppers in search of exciting options for gift giving, home decorating, and entertaining."
This year, the company began launching holiday deals on Nov. 11, two weeks earlier than prior years. Wayfair.com shoppers purchased a variety of items for the home with top weekend sellers including SodaStreams, bean bags, trampolines, play kitchens, cookware sets and TV mounts.
