San Diego-based Jerome's Furniture moved into the Los Angeles market with its ninth store Thursday.
The retailer hosted a VIP event with more than 100 industry partners to mark the Torrance, Calif., store's opening.
The store opening was held on what would have been founder Jim Navarra's 100th birthday. The second generation of Navarras was represented with Adeline Williams, Ann Navarra and Jerry Navarra all in attendance. Adrienne Navarra, Jim Navarra and Mark Navarra were at the store for the third generation.
With this opening, Jerome's grows from eight stores—five in San Diego County and three in San Bernadino and Riverside Counties to the LA area. "We are thrilled to open the LA marketplace," said Lee Goodman, Jerome’s CEO and president. "We are thankful for our partners, the talented hardworking Jerome’s team, and the Navarra Family. We are in a great location and ready to show our new neighbors what Jerome’s is all about.”
Jerome’s renovated a former Wickes location in Torrance, Calif. The store boasts 50,000 square feet that includes Jerome's Dream Shop and Jerry's Blooper Store.
The retailer hired 40 employees for the store.
