Crink Teams with DeLandis

Upholstery vendor DeLandis Furniture U.S. has signed an exclusive agreement with industry veteran Laurence Crink for him to spearhead material sourcing, design, merchandising and sales management strategies.

Crink, president of Greensboro, N.C.-based LeatherWorks Design Studio, has more than 30 years of industry experience spanning senior positions in sales, merchandising and product development, asset management and financial restructuring with major regional and national furniture retailers and manufacturers throughout the nation.

He has worked with numerous U.S., Mexican, Italian and Chinese manufacturers looking for growth in the U.S. market through retailers, membership clubs and Internet companies. Some of those brands include Rachlin Classics, Man Wah, PeopLoungers, Natuzzi, Robinson & Robinson and Archetype/NuMobilia.

He has held senior positions with DeCoro and retailers such as Huffman Koos, Barker Brothers, W&J Sloane and RB Furniture.

“We are excited to have Larry join our team and play a key role in the development of our brand in the United States,” said Classic Brands CEO Michael Zippelli. "His experience and insight really gives us an edge in this competitive market."

“DeLandis enters the U.S. market with a unique selling proposition that I believe will excite retailers and draw them to this brand,” said Crink. “Moreover, because of the scale and depth of the DeLandis manufacturing complex, they have the muscle to really support and grow this brand.”

Crink will remain headquartered in Greensboro, N.C., while LeatherWorks will establish an on-site prototype shop at the DeLandis factory in Quanzhou, China, to execute the American designs of the company’s stationary and power motion offerings.

DeLandis Furniture was established as a U.S. brand this year through a partnership between Classic Brands and DeLandis. The U.S. company is headquartered in Jessup, Md., where it keeps its customer service and sales offices.

DeLandis was founded in 1998 and manufactures product in two side-by-side, state-of-the-art factories in China. The company also manufactures specialty foam products, which it supplies to customers in over 60 countries globally.
