Smith Leonard Named a Top Workplace

Accounting Today and Best Companies Group has named Smith Leonard as one of America’s “Best Accounting Firms to Work For" for the four consecutive year.

The annual List of Best Accounting Firms comprises 100 firms in three different size categories.

“This survey and award program identifies, recognizes and honors the best places of employment in the accounting industry,” said Smith Leonard Managing Partner Darlene Leonard.

One of the Triad’s leading CPA firms, Smith Leonard has grown its staff by 36 percent since the company acquired the High Point BDO practice in 2007.

“Our success during difficult economic times and our continued growth now is a tribute not only to our entire team, but also to our valued clients. We’re grateful for their support and thankful to all our associates for their loyalty and dedication,” Leonard said.

Along with other accounting firms from across the country, Smith Leonard participated in a two-part survey process. The first includes an evaluation of workplace systems, policies and practices. The second is an anonymous employee survey.

To be considered for participation the company had to fulfill a number of eligibility requirements, including:
* Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business.
* Be publicly or privately held.
* Have a U.S. facility.
* Have at least 15 employees working in the U.S.
* Be in business a minimum of 1 year.
* Be an accounting firm.

Smith Leonard primarily serves the Piedmont Triad, but the firm’s reach extends into other parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and beyond. The practice is an independent member of the BDO Seidman Alliance, a nationwide association of independently owned accounting and consulting firms.
