In his new position, Watson will focus on product development of bedroom and dining room in the good and better segment of Hooker’s product line. He will report to Hank Long, senior vice president of merchandising.
Watson has extensive merchandising experience in case goods, most recently as vice president of merchandising at Legacy Classic. Previously, he served in merchandising roles at A.R.T. Furniture and Magnussen.
“We’re very pleased to attract a person of Pat’s abilities to concentrate on growing our case goods business in this competitive part of the market,” Long said. “Pat’s background and proven track record will be a great asset, and his personality is a perfect fit for our organization.”
While Watson will focus on the good and better aspects of the casegoods product line, Cindy Hall, director of merchandising, will focus on the upper end of Hooker’s dining and bedroom line, as well as the Mélange/Accent Furniture categories and the Workwell home office line, “where she has been instrumental in growing these brands,” Long said.
Long will continue to develop the home office and home entertainment categories—both free-standing and in a collaborative effort with major collections.
“We’re excited about the experience and complementary skills each of these merchants will bring to a team effort to grow our business across all price point and product lines,” Long said.
